Puppy hugging is currently closed while we redesign the program.
Become a puppy hugger for future service dogs! Our puppy huggers help our puppies build their confidence and get used to being around people.
Puppy hugging is only available at our facility in Grantville, PA when we have a litter of puppies that’s eight to nine weeks old. You can join our email list to receive notifications. When puppies are available, we will email you a link to sign up for a hugging time slot.
Each slot is 30 minutes long. We ask you to bring a $5 donation per group, which helps us buy puppy food.
Guidelines for Puppy Hugging
- Please do not bring pets or service dogs in training
- Help us clean up after the puppies. We provide cleaning supplies and hand sanitizer.
- Children under age 16 are not permitted to pick up the puppies. Children should sit in the floor while an adult places the puppies in their arms. Children under age 5 should be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.
- Please sign in on the computer when you visit.
There will be a Puppy Hugger Supervisor on duty to answer any questions you have while you’re visiting.
Please note, puppy hugging is one of our most popular volunteer opportunities and time slots fill up quickly.
