Respite Services provides temporary support for children and adults with intellectual disabilities and autism or for those in recovery from mental illness. While individuals use Respite Services, they will continue to receive comprehensive and individualized supports based on their needs. Available in a community home setting or in the person’s own home, respite provides short term care for individuals in the event of a family emergency or on a scheduled basis to offer families the opportunity to take a vacation or attend to other family needs.

Respite Services may also be used to support children and adults to learn and practice independent living skills, such as meal planning and preparation, cleaning and laundry.
