Key Human Services was established in 1989 as a subsidiary of Keystone Human Services after Keystone was asked to help with the closing of the Mansfield Training School. Key opened three Community Living Arrangements, serving eight people. Since then, the organization has grown from one employee to over 300 and expanded to include other Community Living Arrangements, autism services, Supported Home placements, nursing services, Individualized Home Support, Individualized Day Support and Birth to Three services.

All of Key’s employees receive intensive and ongoing education in Key’s policies and procedures so they can provide the best, most effective services and support to the individuals they serve. Each program director runs his or her program with full responsibility for hiring new employees, administering the program budget, and taking a lead role in program development.
