Flyball Dogs Anonymous
Flyball Dogs Anonymous began training in September 2001. However, it wasn't until March of 2005 that we got enough people together to run in our first tournament. Now our teams are running in tournaments up and down the east coast, from North Carolina to Maine, and as far west as Ohio. When we started running, our first goal was to run consistently under 24 seconds, which would give our dogs the maximum amount of points for a run. Now we are competing with the top teams on the East Coast. The fastest team we have put together ran the course in 17.6 seconds.
We took our 1st first-place ribbon in May 2006 in Bennington, Vermont. In September 2006 we took our 1st first-place win in the Multi-Breed Division 1 & this past September we took Multi-Breed 1st place in the region (MD, DE, NJ & PA). We currently have 3 teams running in different divisions.
What Is Flyball?
Flyball is a relay race for dogs. There are 4 dogs on a team. The first dog must go over 4 jumps, trigger the box, catch the ball, then return over the 4 jumps – perfectly. Then the next dog can go. If an error occurs, like the dog dropping the ball or missing the jumps, then that dog must run again at after all it's team mates.
The team will race against the clock for points and a win against another team. During a tournament the best team will take first place in their division. Titles are awarded to the dogs that have collected enough points for that title.
