Keystone Service Systems North Central Pennsylvania came into being in 1984 as Keystone Residence, a community based alternative to institutionalization for citizens of Northumberland County who experience mental illness and developmental disabilities. Over the years, Keystone continued to grow within Northumberland County. In 1995, Keystone began to provide children's services in Northumberland County. In 1997, children's services were expanded to include Columbia, Montour, Snyder and Union counties. In 1998, we began to provide services in Huntingdon, Mifflin and Juniata counties. Since then our service area has expanded to include Centre and Blair counties.

Providing Quality Human Services in the Community

Throughout our history, our services have been provided consistent with our mission: To act as a change agent, creating opportunities for growth and meaningful life choices so that people are valued and contributing members of their community. Our agency's goal is to improve the everyday lives of the people we support, how they live and work. Our services are about lifelong learning, skill development and continuous growth, about independence, dignity and respect. Our ingenuity in creating unique supports, recognizing personal attributes and encouraging people to develop to their fullest potential is our strength. Our work requires that we continually identify and create new opportunities and experiences that enhance each person's contribution and participation in their community. Our commitment is to foster natural supports, establishing close alliances with the people we support, their families and friends, businesses, funding agencies and other community resources to strengthen our capability to successfully provide services that facilitate integration and access in all aspects of personal community life.
