Keystone Human Services North Central

Woman and Child with Ball

In 1984, Keystone Human Services North Central began providing services and supports to the communities within Northumberland County. Adopting the name Keystone Human Services North Central, the agency has grown from providing services to 18 people to supporting more than 700 people in counties across Pennsylvania. Currently, services are offered in Northumberland, Columbia, Montour, Snyder, Union, Blair, Centre, Huntingdon, Mifflin, and Juniata Counties.

Keystone Human Services North Central provides a wide range of supports including mental health and mental retardation services to children, adults and families. Mental retardation services include community support services, community residential homes and habilitation services for people residing in area nursing homes, as well as family living, respite and transportation. Mental health services include supportive living, therapeutic staff support, mobile therapy, behavioral specialist consultation, psychological evaluation, out-of-home crisis stabilization, family-based services and psychosocial rehabilitation.

Whatever the service, our mission has remained consistent: to act as a change agent, creating opportunities for growth and meaningful life choices so that people can be valued and contributing members of their community.

A Word from the Executive Director

Keystone Human Services North Central is celebrating 25 years of service this year. The diverse array of Intellectual Disability Services and Mental Health Services we provide makes KHSNC unique and allows us to support individuals with a variety of needs. Our Intellectual Disability Services include community residential homes, family living, home-based services and OBRA services. Within our Mental Health Services, we provide separate supports for youth and adults. Our adult Mental Health Services include community residential rehabilitation homes, supportive living and peer support services. The youth Mental Health Services include therapeutic staff support, mobile therapy, behavioral specialist consultation, psychological evaluation and family-based services. KHSNC is also registered with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to provide services through the new Autism Waiver. Through this Autism Waiver, we are providing community residential homes, family living and home-based services. Our services are designed to be able to work together to make the care and stabilization of someone’s life extremely smooth, an advantage for individuals who may need supports from more than one service.

Though we have been growing and adding services since 1984, we are still dedicated to our mission of creating opportunities for growth and meaningful life choices so all people are valued, contributing members of their community. Our Mission is achieved through our Direct Support Professionals, our greatest asset. Our staff are driven to meet the individual needs of every person we serve. Throughout the year, our staff participate in ongoing educational training and seminars that focus on meeting individuals’ wants, needs and desires.

We are excited about the future at KHSNC and embrace the opportunity to provide our diverse services to any individual or family who chooses us to provide supports in the community.
