Keystone Human Services International Moldova Association (KHSIMA)
The Republic of Moldova is a country fraught with political tension and social hardship, currently ranked as the poorest per capita nation in Europe. Recognizing the profound need for community restoration and human services training in this oft-neglected region, KHSI founded the Keystone Human Services Moldova Association, based in Chisinau, Moldova, in 2003.
A registered non-governmental organization in Moldova, the Moldova Association's foremost objective is to promote and develop opportunities, in the form of direct service and best-practice training, as well as administrative and monetary support, to further the independence of individuals and families who are in need of service due to disabling conditions, situations of poverty, abandonment, institutionalization and other adverse societal challenges throughout Moldova.
KHSIMA operates Children and Family Centers in the villages of Tudora and Bacioi.
The mission of the Moldova Association is carried out through Children and Family Centers. Structured to build upon the successful model of the Head Start program, Children and Family Centers provide a safe, clean, well-managed base of operations through which children and families can access comprehensive, community-based services and support. Operated and managed by committed social entrepreneurs in their own communities, these centers unite individuals with a common purpose and create a tangible foundation to receive funding and create partnerships with other organizations. Children and Family Centers provide a wealth of beneficial services for children and families, including preschool education, parent training, specialized therapies, medical clinics, nutrition and prenatal services, community-building and family counseling.
