Harrisburg, PA (PRWeb) June 3, 2010 – Susquehanna Service Dogs’ newest litter of puppies is lighting up the screen on the SSD Puppy Cam. The Gemstones litter – Coral, Opal, Aquamarine, Topaz, Tanzanite, Amber and Diamond – will be eating, sleeping and playing on a live video stream available on the SSD website.
Besides watching the puppies online as they explore their world, people can visit them for puppy hugging or give them a puppy shower gift to wish them happy birthday. For more information about puppy hugging, email SSD’s executive director at nfierer @ keystonehumanservices.org or call SSD at 717-599-5920. Puppy shower gifts can be made online.
Born on July 4, 2010 to SSD Pearl, these puppies will join their puppy raiser families and begin their journey to becoming service dogs when they are just eight weeks old. They will gain the experiences and skills that will enable them to assist individuals with disabilities with their unique needs. Before the dogs are two years old, they will be able to open and close doors, retrieve numerous objects, turn light switches on and off, find a cordless phone and much more. Once the dogs are placed with their partners, each dog is specially trained to assist their partner with their unique needs.
SSD has been training service, hearing, balance, psychiatric and therapy dogs since 1993. SSD is a member of Assistance Dogs International and Capitol Area United Way and includes Keystone Therapy Dogs, a professional-level therapy group that provides comfort and support for children and adults with illnesses and disabilities.
