Harrisburg, PA (May 13, 2015)—Keystone Human Services is proud to announce that Jo Pepper, director of Capital Area Head Start, received the 2015 Joseph M. Capita Spirit of the Capital Region Award from the United Way of the Capital Region.

This award recognizes a person who has worked for community engagement and made a significant and measurable impact in the health, education, and betterment of the community. Jo received the award at the United Way of the Capital Region’s Annual Luncheon: “Driving Change” on May 11, 2015.

“All those hallmarks of the Head Start program are what Jo embodies,” says Charles Hooker, President-Elect of Keystone Human Services. “In her leadership of Head Start, it’s about that collaboration with the community.”

Jo has been leading Capital Area Head Start for over 30 years. In the past year, CAHS has served over 1,000 children and families through Head Start and Early Head Start programs.

“Every day we work with children and parents to help children get ready for school. But way more importantly, we help children be successful in life,” says Jo Pepper.
