Charles Hooker Receives Dr. Joseph Adlestein Award

Keystone Human Services is pleased to announce that Charles Hooker, Senior Vice President of KHS, is this year’s recipient of the Dr. Joseph Adlestein Award for Professional Leadership.

Dr. Adlestein was the author of the Mental Health Act of 1966, which paved the way for deinstitutionalization of thousands of men and women who previously had no hope for freedom, dignity or a meaningful life in the community. He was also a staunch advocate for inclusion and school readiness through early intervention and positive parenting. The Joseph Adlestein Award is presented to a person who has shown exceptional leadership and advocacy for men, women, and children to live meaningful lives in the community.

Charles has over 35 years of professional experience in human services. He joined Keystone Human Services in 1996 and currently serves as Keystone’s Senior Vice President and the Chief Executive Officer of Keystone Human Services International. He guides Keystone’s operations and programs to meet and exceed our mission and vision.

Within Keystone, Charles serves as a board member for Keystone Autism Services, Keystone Partnership, Keystone Service Systems, Inc., Key Human Services, and Keystone Human Services International, as well as Keystone Moldova and the Keystone Foundation for Social Assistance to Children and Families in Russia.

He also volunteers as a member on the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia (AMCHAM), a past Board member of the American Network of Community Options and Resources (ANCOR), co-chairs the Advocacy Council for the Pennsylvania Advocacy and Resources for Autism and Intellectual Disabilities (PAR), as well as a Board member of the World Affairs Council-Harrisburg, PA.

Throughout all of these activities, Charles works tirelessly on behalf of those who rely on Keystone to help them realize their dreams and goals.
