Mark C. McDermott
Mark C. McDermott is Brand Strategy & Innovation Manager in the Nestlé Infant Nutrition business unit of Nestlé. Mark leads strategic planning and innovation for Toddler foods within Nestlé Infant Nutrition, and is based at Nestlé headquarters in Vevey, Switzerland. Prior to Switzerland, Mark was General Manager of the Gerber baby food business in Russia from 2005-2007. In 2007, Gerber was acquired by Nestlé.
Mark has over 25 years of experience in consumer marketing and international general management at companies such as Nestlé, The Coca-Cola Company, Sara Lee Coffee and Tea, Novartis, American Home Products and Schering-Plough. In 2003, Mark founded McDermott Communications, Inc. with the business Knowledge & News of Our WorldO, KNOWO, an educational organization that informs and educates Americans of what people around the world are saying about America. KNOW's vision is to better integrate America into the world community by promoting knowledge and understanding of other countries' perspectives of America.
Mark graduated in 1985 with a BA in Economics from Denison University in Ohio, USA, during which he studied in his junior year at Salzburg College in Salzburg, Austria.
Mark holds a MBA from the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia, USA, where he was the President of the Darden Distinguished Speaker Series, the organization that brings CEO's of international corporations to campus.
Mark speaks minor Russian, German, Spanish.
Mark joined the Board of Directors of Keystone Foundation for Children and Families in December 2006, and is now a member of the Keystone Board of Trustees. Previously, Mark was on the Junior Board of the Saint Vincent's Hospital in New York, USA.
A lifelong baseball player, Mark currently plays baseball in the Ligue Nationale A of the Fédération Romande de Baseball, for the Lausanne Indians team.
While in Moscow, Mark was commissioner of the Intermediate League of Moscow Youth Baseball League, coached kids' football, basketball and baseball teams, and played in the Moscow Softball League. Mark is also an avid skier.
In Switzerland with Mark is his lovely wife Susan, three wonderful kids, Kevin 16, Steven and Caroline 13, golden retriever Polo and cat Indy!
