A Word from the President

Renewing our Commitment to Advancing the Human Spirit

Keystone is honored to be a 2007 Member of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI).

It is truly a time of innovation for both Keystone Human Services and the non-profit realm as a whole. More than ever before, global leaders in business, politics, and service are recognizing the critical issues and challenges facing humanity - and the need for a united front to address them.

Founded in 2005 by President Bill Clinton and the William J. Clinton Foundation, "The Clinton Global Initiative is a non-partisan catalyst for action, bringing together a community of global leaders to devise and implement innovative solutions to some of the world's most pressing challenges including climate, education, poverty and health."

I was privileged to have the opportunity to represent KHS at the 2007 CGI Annual Meeting, the initiative's core event held in New York City each September. The CGI Annual Meeting is a forum where collaborations and partnerships between government, business and the non-profit sector are forged, creating capacities and potential avenues for change that can only be achieved within integrated, multi-sector and comprehensive solutions. For more information on the CGI, click here.

President Clinton was joined at this year's meeting by 1,300 leaders of business, government and non-governmental organizations, who traveled to New York from six continents, including 50 current and former Heads of State. More than half a million people shared in this experience via Internet podcasts.

Angelina Jolie, a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, spoke of her recent visit to refugee camps in Syria and Afghanistan and told a powerful story of one amazing little boy.

President Clinton spoke of the selflessness and courage of a husband and wife that lost nine children in the tsunami in Southeast Asia.

Chronicling the perseverance of humanity against incredible odds, these and other exquisite life stories are illustrations of courage, of hope and of growing strong at the broken places. Truly, they are profound celebrations of the human spirit.

It is in this spirit of hope and celebration that I am pleased to announce Keystone Human Services' new tagline: Advancing the Human Spirit. We hope this objective will reflect our commitment to humanity on both local and global fronts as we prepare to serve an ever-changing and growing population with exciting new initiatives, collaborations, and ideas. Heralding our pledge to Advancing the Human Spirit is a new website, designed to reflect the dynamic potential of an increasingly digital world.

Join us in our quest to Advance the Human Spirit and share your own story of hope, courage and perseverance on our new website.
