Recovery specialists:
The essence of interpersonal collaboration

Recovery specialists

As the Keystone Family is becoming increasingly integrated, shared expertise, shared insights, shared data and shared software are all contributing to the efficiency and seamless nature of our continuum of services.

Now, for the first time, that premise of "shared" expertise is being taken one step further with the addition of Recovery Specialists to our team of mental health experts. Recovery Specialists are individuals who previously received services to manage their own mental illness. Because they have been in the "trenches," and because they know and understand the system from the receiving end, these specialists are able to imbue a whole new level of hope for those struggling with mental health challenges.

Having received the proper training and guidance, it is no mere coincidence that Keystone's Recovery Specialists become mentors and colleagues. Keystone's mental health experts are fully aware of each mentor's uplifting potential. Their ability to make an individual feel "understood" is perhaps unmatched because of their unique ability to empathize. Equally important, the Recovery Specialist's respected status as a colleague, who is now part of a team of mental health professionals, gives those receiving services even more reason to believe in a positive future.

This notion of peer support is perhaps the essence of Keystone collaboration, and it is particularly gratifying to report such marked success in its initial stages. We are pleased to welcome our Recovery Specialists into the Keystone Family and look forward to continued reports of their success well into the future.
